Richard Harrison was born in Brunswick County, Virginia in 1865. Richard was raised alongside his siblings - John, James, Benjamin, Samuel, and Sallie - on the Harrison Farm in rural Ante, Brunswick County.
Richard Harrison appears in the 1870, 1880 U.S. Federal Census records for Brunswick County, Virginia. Research is ongoing to locate Richard in the 1900 - 1950 census records. Unfortunately, most of the 1890 Census records were destroyed in a fire at the United States Department of Commerce building in Washington, D.C., on January 10, 1921.
Richard married Fannie Daniel on Wednesday, March 4, 1885, in Brunswick County, Virginia. Fannie’s parents were Lewis Daniel and Henrietta Stewart-Daniel.
Richard Harrison's mother, Sarah Jane Harrison, passed away in 1905.
In 1906, a land sale document named Benjamin Harrison, Richard's brother, as the guardian of Richard's children. This document also recorded the sale of 10 acres to Alice Harrison-Banks, the niece of Richard and Benjamin.
In 1908, Richard sold his 1/5 share of his late mother's 202-acre estate to his brother Samuel Harrison. The deed noted that Richard was unmarried at the time of the sale.
